Comment: The marble for this stone was obtained in Florence, Italy, from the stone carving workshop adjacent to, and for maintenance of the statuary of, the Duomo. This piece suggests an unassuming robed woman, resting, and contemplative, and supported by a modest granite base. This work was completed in 2002.

Base: Black marble, 8 inches round x 5 Y2 inches high
Comment: This piece was started in Pietrasanta, Italy, in 1998 and completed in 1999 in Alexandria, VA at the Torpedo Factory. The sculpture invokes a flowering effect from the center into large petals, perhaps suggesting the distinctive sails of the Sydney Opera House.

Base — Marble tile, 12 inches square x ‘/2 inch thick
Comment: This sculpture implies a Flying Wing and is designed to rock gently on a curved bottom. The shape also suggests the dynamic tail of a whale rising from the sea. Completed in 2000

Dual Faces
Description: White Italian marble

Base — Oak, 4 x 4 x 10 inches high
Comment: Inspired by the dual faces of Comedy and Drama usually associated with the Theatre. The piece of marble used for this piece was cut from the bottom of “Four Sails” to provide a balanced sail profile. Completed in 2005.
